If you dsl speed been happily playing your favourite game on your Xbox 360 only to find that Wireless Network Firewall next time you switch the console on you have the blinking lights of doom. This is because as you probably know the faster the graphics and capabilities of a machine then the better cooling they will need.
This unfortunately is where the Xbox 360 falls short and if you think it has loads of high end components in a very small space and only one fan pumping air out so no wonder it gets a little bit hot!
The most common failure is the Red Rings of Death and if you have this error then you will tmnet jaring able to tell as you will have the 3 red lights flashing on your machine, and it basically means that the 2 main chips have overheated (the GPU and the CPU).
However this should not be confused with the 4 red lights flashing and if you see 4 red solid lights flashing all you need to do is check your AV cable as it is probably not plugged in correctly.
You should take note of the number of red lights flashing on your console if you are having problems as some of the errors can be fixed at home and you will not need to send the console to the Microsoft repair centre.
Also if you do have to send it in, the customer service personnel will need to know how many lights are flashing and they will be able to tell you what the problem is.
If you do have the 3 red lights flashing then the repair process to get it fixed can be a little bit tedious and you will have to wait to get some packaging materials sent to you from Microsoft and then you just box the Xbox up and send it off.
If you are worried about getting the red lights of doom then at least Microsoft offer an extended warranty that you should take advantage off if you want to keep your Xbox running.
All that said I am sure once these problems are sorted out that the Xbox 360 will be one hell of a machine to be reckoned with.
